Who are we?
Sunrise is a group of professionals who come together to make a collective difference in their lives by learning more about area business’s, services, and activities that makes our community strong.  Our group is small enough that you will know everyone, and large enough to truly accomplish many great things in and around our community. We work hard.  We play hard.  Our weekly Rotary meetings are informative.  Our Social gatherings are fun and inclusive.  And above all, the causes that we support with a helping hand, fundraising, or donations gain the greatest benefits from our member’s efforts.

One of the most important aspects of Rotary is the official motto of Rotary “Service Above Self”. Sunrise prides itself in the many ways we fulfill this motto.

Speakers and Programs
Please look to left side of this web page at the lineup of speakers we have scheduled in the coming weeks.  You will find speakers who are leaders of our community, from local companies, non-profits and public institutions presenting programs that cover a wide variety of topics that we hope you will find entertaining, educational and inspirational.  We also schedule “off campus” tours of businesses, non-profits and new building projects several times a year taking advantage of our smaller sized club.

Service:
One of the most important aspects of Rotary is the official motto of Rotary “Service Above Self.”  Sunrise Rotary prides itself in the many ways we fulfill this motto.

Our service contributions include:
· Raising more than $40,000 for Make-A-Wish through our “Wish Upon a Par Golf Outing” in May 2016
· The award of scholarships to Linn-Mar and Kennedy students for higher education
· Sponsoring outbound and hosting inbound Foreign Exchange Students
· Partnering with Matthew 25, transforming neighborhoods, empower youth, providing housing and food
· Partnering with Habitat for Humanity starting in 2016
· Administering Polio vacations in India
· A Sunrise sponsored Rotary group based at Mount Mercy University
· Funding and on-site support for Las Trincheras El Salvador school construction project
· Salvation Army bell ringing
· Volunteering at the Pribyl Rotary Golf Outing for Cedar Rapids area Middle and High School boys
· ……and many other service projects along the way

Our group’s culture of doing the right thing, supporting each other, and stepping up to successfully tackle any challenge allows our forty plus members to accomplish a lot. It also makes it easy to become a connected and active Rotary member from the first day you join. Our growing number of young professionals who have joined our group over the last few years have established a Sunrise Rotary New Generations Group, and are “raising the bar” in what they have done to support our community needs.

Networking...In addition to our support of our community, our Club is a great way to meet, network and engage with your fellow Rotarians through fun social events such as wine tastings, golf outings, baseball games, river cruises, holiday parties, and after work gatherings to name a few. We have a dedicated Social planning committee for Club events.

As we continue to grow our club, we ask our members to:
· Be an active participant
· Help us grow our club by inviting new members and reinforcing our efforts with community causes.
· Contribute to the Rotary Foundation

It’s that simple!
Our membership dues are structured to offer various options to fit your individual goals.
Our Community causes are a small part of what we do to reinforce our member’s activities. We have fun participating in wine tastings, golf outings, Christmas parties, baseball games, river cruises, monthly social gatherings at local establishments, to name a few.

Choosing the right Rotary club is important. Each area club has a different character. We invite you to join us for breakfast, on us, to get a feel for our club, to meet our members, and to learn more about our Group.

We meet at
Elmcrest Country Club, 1000 36th St NE, Cedar Rapids, each Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m.

We invite you to join us for a complementary breakfast! And we hope you will continue into membership!
