    Business Advisory Roundtables are back again!   
     
    12 Noon Tuesday July 26.  Larry Helling: "My Life Story & Lessons Learned"!!!  CEO Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust
     
    This monthly event offers you insights from local business leaders... their successes, their lessons learned... to equip you going forward.  Join Rotarians from all Linn County Clubs. 
     
    We are at a new site:  Biaggi's on Collins Road.  The lunch is fine and the $14 cost is lower than our previous location.  Register and pre-pay on Square by Monday noon on 7/25 if you are having lunch.    https://rotarybar.square.site/

    Alliant Energy Community Solar in Cedar Rapids Area
    July 14 we heard from Alliant Energy about their new Cedar Rapids Community Solar program. 
     
    Residences and business can subscribe to purchase solar power without installation on the home or property.

    Celebrate our Rotary Year!
    Our Rotary year is complete!   
     
    The June 30 program highlighted our year and accomplishments.   Many thanks to President Theresa and all volunteers!   
     
    Our fun, our activities and our accomplishments are to be celebrated.  Let us build on these in President Lynette's new year.  
     
    The gavel was passed to Lynette along with the framed Sunrise Rotary Charter Certificate. 
     
    We recognized our Rotarian of the Year for 2021-2022.  Awarded a second year for his many hours helping Rotary Membership, Make-A-Wish and more:  Eric Harris!

    3 Sunrise Community Grants - Completed!
    We had a lead Rotarian on three grants this year.   Funds given into our communites this year totalled $10,000.  Thank you Rotarians for volunteering and donating to the Foundation. 
    • Catherine McAuley Center - We refurbished a Child Care room for children of immigrants, while their parents are in classes. $5,126  Thank you Mary Schell!
    • AbbeHealth/Aging Services - Connecting the older folks in our community to others with 5 iPad tablets. Gift bags were distributed. $1,942 Thank you Bob Schell!
    • ChildServe - Providing learning/speech testing tools for this organization to serve their kids. $2,932  Thank you Rachel Rigdon!
    Volunteering beyond the projects is an essential parts of these organizations and our club. The engages us with serving our community. 
     
    Project 1 - Abbe Health-Aging Services to help seniors from being isolated
    Lindsay Glinn - Exec Director at Aging Services - Explaining their mission and work at our Rotary Club meeting April 7.
     
     
    > Lindsay Glinn recieving the 5 iPads Sunrise Rotary granted, to connect Seniors to families. Coe College students aid the seniors with setup and support.
     
     
    Project 2: Catherine McAuley Center child care room updates:  
    Immigrant clients needed this room for children during the parent's classes.  
     
    Our Rotary grant provided new tables and chairs, security cameras, fingerprint security reader, toys and tablet electronics, installed now for better care of the kids.

    Project 3: ChildServe in Coralville
    We helped to purchase speech imparement diagnostic Apps for to diagnose kids served by this Iowa organization. The "big check' was presented at their May 11 Donor Lunch by Rachel Rigdon and Bruce Lindholm.

    Sunrise Rotary Earns Club Excellence Award
     
     
    Sunrise Rotary earned the Club Excellence Award from our District 5970 leaders at the District Convention Saturday.   
     
    Congratulations to everyone who contributed time, talents and funding to our club efforts in 2021-2022!!
